Church Plants A-K
Ryan Sudsberry, a veteran youth worker from Sarasota, Florida, sat outside of a hotel room at 3:00am in Southern California because he could not sleep. He felt that God was moving him towards something new and unknown, so he prayed - He had no idea what God was about to do. That night resulted in what is now known as, The Cooper Creek Project. Partnering with Florida Church Partners and Sarasota Christian Church, Cooper Creek Christian Church launched in the fall of 2008. Here's a little bit of Ryan's story...
"A few years ago I began to feel really uncomfortable with life. It wasn't my family or even my job at the time. If you asked me then I really couldn't put it into words. I just felt as if God was about to use me in a new and fresh way. In 2008, I prayed on and off in a parking lot on a street called, Cooper Creek Blvd. For some reason I kept being drawn back to this location. I was doing ministry about 20 miles south of here. I loved my job and my church. Things were great and the ministry was going fantastic. I kept asking why I would I give this up for something different. It became very clear that God was going to use us for a new church in North Sarasota."
The Creek launched in January of 2009 and set out to create a local church that would clearly communicate the gospel. They continue to learn daily what it means to love God and to love others. They meet in a movie theater each Sunday morning for corporate worship. They meet in homes and coffee shops throughout the week for prayer, communion, and Bible study. Community serivice is a a big part of what they do. Lives are changing and people are coming to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. There are 343,000 people within an 8 mile radius and they desire to provide these people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
